If you love the flavor of chai, then you’re going to want to try this chai smoothie! Made with a handful of ingredients, including a homemade chai spice blend. So thick and creamy, this chai smoothie is great for breakfast or a snack!

A decade ago, when I was really into my smoothie-making days, I discovered that blended frozen bananas taste a little like ice cream! They are the base for my vanilla milkshake, my Snicker’s milkshake, and now, this creamy chai smoothie!

Blended bananas with homemade chai seasoning along with vanilla and dates– it’s like a creamy chai milkshake without any dairy! Delicious for breakfast or for a snack, you’ve gotta try this one.

Chai Smoothie With Bananas

Ingredient Notes

  • Bananas: As mentioned, the bananas are key in this chai smoothie recipe. The frozen is key and I really recommend freezing for best results. To make frozen banans– peel them, break them into pieces or chop them, and then place them in a freezer-safe bag (these stand silicone ones are my favorite).
  • Chai Seasoning: The seasoning blend is great to store in a jar for up to a year. Mix it all together to make this smoothie over and over again.
  • Dates: The dates help to sweeten this chai smoothie naturally– plus they add in fiber along with other vitamins and minerals, like potassium, magnesium, and copper.
  • Almond Butter: I don’t recommend swapping in peanut butter or other nut butter for this recipe as the almond butter is neutral enough to add creaminess without overpowering like peanut butter would be.

How to Soften Dates

Pro tip! If your dates are too hard to blend, then you can soak them in warm water for a few minutes before adding them to your blender. I do this whenever my dates are too hard and the secret for making date paste.
