It’s to no ones surprise that we eat a lot of tofu in my house. It’s one of Vander’s favorite foods and I adore throwing crispy little cubes on just about everything: salads, bowls, wraps, or just eating them straight. I was so hungry yesterday afternoon after a walk then I dunked leftover tofu cubes into pesto while I figured out what I wanted to make for dinner.
Yup. That’s how we roll around here.
Anyways– I got an Air Fryer for Christmas and it’s been life changing for both tofu and vegetables. I love that I can put together these cubes in just minutes– what typically takes at least 25-30 minutes in the oven, especially if you take into account the time it takes to preheat.
This recipe really couldn’t be easier and it’s also completely customizable! I love using soy sauce for color and saltiness plus a little garlic and toasted sesame oil for flavor.
This air fryer tofu would also be delicious with fresh grated ginger; or using a different oil and seasoning. Again, it’s really customizable to what kind of flavor you are going for. I’ve made similar cubes with a little olive oil, garlic and chili powder that is perfect for quick tacos and burritos.
How to Make Air Fryer Tofu
You’ll need to press most of the water out of the tofu before using; I use a tofu press but you can also wrap the tofu in a kitchen towel and then use a heavy object, like a book or canned goods to help remove most of the water. I talk more about this in my how to make crispy tofu article!
From there, cube the tofu and toss with 2 teaspoons toasted sesame oil, 1/2 teaspoon grated fresh garlic and a splash or two of soy sauce. Toss until well coated, then cook in the Air Fryer at 400 degrees F for 10 minutes, turning halfway through.
That’s it! Couldn’t be simpler and you are rewarded with crispy tofu cubes that you can put on everything.
Ways to use Air Fryer Tofu

- 1 block extra-firm tofu
- 2 teaspoons toasted sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon grated fresh garlic
- 1 tablespoon low-sodium soy sauce
- Press tofu to remove as much water as possible. Cube and toss with sesame oil, garlic and soy sauce.
- Place in a single layer in the bottom of an Air Fryer and cook at 400 degrees F for 10 minutes; turning halfway through.
